enCore v.4 User Guide Release Notes
8/18/04
The enCore User's Guide has been updated to the January 2004 released of enCore
version 4. The new guide has been built from the previous enCore version 3 User
Guide; however, significant changes and improvements have been made:
- A new navigation system provides easier access to information. Topics about
using enCore have been recategorized and presented in a dynamic drop-down
menu.
- Additional and improved screen shots. Many screen shots from version 3 were
still accurate, so they have been maintained.
- Improved content to guides. The entire guide has been re-edited for improved
readability.
- This guide presents information related to using the "point-and-click"
functionality first ahead of the text commands. This shift reflects the reality
that most enCore users access the program via the web and are more comfortable
using the point-and-click method of operating in the program.
- In addition, this guide offers "movies" demonstrating different
aspects of using the program. These movies are shots of the screen as these
functions are being performed.
- An improved general description about what "MOO" is. This description
reviews what object-oriented programming language is as well as concepts of
properties, verbs, parents and inheritence.
- This guide offers a trouble shooting page for login problems into enCore
(with a section on dealing with popup blockers).
- The guide also has a completely new look.
At this time, the enCore v.4 User Guide is only being offered as a link:

The guide may be offered for download in the near future.
Thanks for assistance on this guide go to Erin Karper for her original work
on enCore User Guide v.1 and v.3. In addition, she gave me valuable help as
I started to work on updating this guide. Tess Tavorima provided invaluable
editing assistance on the final draft.
If you have suggestions for improvements to this guide or have additional guides
you have created that you would like to offer for inclusion in the guide, please
contact me with your ideas.
