Atlas: An Introduction

Everyone needs an atlas--a collection of maps to help guide us from where we are to where we want to be. For those who wish to improve their use of technology for teaching writing and English, these Lesson Maps will prove a helpful beginning. In particular, these maps should be helpful for
  • teachers who wish to use the computer classroom only one to four times in a semester (for what we call "spot-use")

  • teachers who use the computer classroom partially (scheduled for one time per week) and who wish to expand how they use technology with their classes

Each map contains two parts: first a discussion about the pedagogical goals and philosophy behind each Lesson Map (called Foundation), and then a second part with instructions on how to do the lesson with your class (called Practice). Although viewable via the web, each map is meant to be viewable and useful as a print document (each prints in two or three pages). Also, though these pages are customized for the San Antonio College faculty, they should have a more general applicability.
