We will meet in the room where your arrive when you log in called "The Lobby."
The MOO QuickStart page that follows this one will provide you with all the commands you will need to speak and interact in the MOO. Bring it with you to the MOO session. What is foreign about MOOs is that one needs to enter a “command” or “verb” to make the MOO program do something. For example, to speak you type:
say Hi <and then hit the Enter key>
The command “say” gets the MOO to send the text “Hi” as a message. One alternative if you find typing in “say” all the time to be problematic is to click the SAY radio button next to the text input area. “Say” will automatically be put before each line of text you wish to input, so all you have to do is type and hit enter.
LOOKing at objects
You will notice on the right hand side of the screen next to the list of LINKS: a list of other items under the heading YOU SEE: . For instance, when you arrive in AlaMOO Plaza, you see an icon that looks like a piece of paper called "Greetings." This object is a note. You can click on this note to read it.
All the objects you see listed beneath the YOU SEE: title are objects that live within the room you are presently located. You can click on these items to see what they are and what they might do. After viewing an object, to put it down and return to viewing the room you are in, click the LOOK button at the top of the page. You could also type LOOK and hit enter. The LOOK command is sort of like a back button--after you look at an object, it returns you to viewing the room you are in.
The LOOK command will not navigate you between rooms--the links to rooms do that. Also, any person located in a room is listed under the YOU SEE: area, so you can see who is in the room with you.
