Occupational Safety & Health Technology

Mission Statement

"The primary mission of the Occupational Safety & Health Technology Program is to prepare members of our community for a career as Occupational Safety & Health professionals as required by local businesses. Also the program is to help existing workplace safety & health professionals improve their skills in the work place. The students are guaranteed that they will be instructed in the exit competencies that are needed by industry."

In order to accomplish this mission the program assists the new student in the transition from high school to college and from college to the work place. The program fully supports technical dual credit & Tech Prep concepts of a coordinated transition for the student from secondary education to college. The program also works with local businesses to ensure that its students are trained in fundamental skills as required in the work place.

To ensure that highly specialized work place requirements are satisfied, SAC is involved in a consortium of other post secondary institutions which offer those specializations. All first year courses are fully transferable to any of the two-year colleges that teach OSHT and EPCT courses found in the Workforce Education Course Manual (WECM).

To support higher education, our technical courses may be transferable to selected four-year colleges and universities for credit towards a Bachelors Degree. The educational and inter-school efforts of the program are designed to help the student achieve a productive career in his/her chosen career path.
