Thomas Jefferson warned his generation, and every future generation of Americans, that, “Those that hope to be both ignorant and free, hope for what never was and what never will be.” Recognizing the truth in Jefferson's claim, Texas , like other states, requires instruction in our way of governance as an element of a college education. At San Antonio College, we hope that you will learn to understand, appreciate and evaluate how we engage in politics in our communities, our states, our country and in the world—not because it's a degree requirement, but because it is of such great importance.
To help you in learning about politics and government, we have developed the following menu of instructional options:
Video Courses usually meet for exams and exam reviews. The instructional material is delivered on the web, television or video. This is a great way to learn!
Online courses meet one or more times during a semester, depending on the instructor's requirements. Usually the meetings are for examinations. The instructional material is delivered via the web and/or a textbook.
Traditional classes meet on regularly scheduled days, MWF or TTH, thus all of the instruction is delivered in the classroom; however, in some cases, the student has access to learning materials via the web.
Of course, much of the college experience is about studying and making the grade. If you have any questions, or if any problems should arise, please contact the professor. However, contact me if your professor cannot resolve a problem.
