Greetings!
I am Professor Fernando Pinon. The courses I teach include Government 2301 and Government 2302.
I was born in Mexico and moved to Laredo as a young boy. I served in the U.S. Navy and after my discharge I attended the University of North Texas where I received my Bachelor's Degree in Journalism and a Master's Degree in Political Science. I studied Law at Notre Dame University .
In 1971, I became the managing editor of The Laredo Times , a daily newspaper that serves South Texas and Northern Mexico. I was the first Mexican-American to serve on the Editorial Board of the Texas Daily Press Association.
I have written two books, Of Myths and Realities: Dynamics of Ethnic Politics and Patron Democracy and the Third Children of the Half-Millennium , published in the Spring of 2002. I was hired as a full-time faculty member in 1994 .
