American Minorities:  Political Culture in A Global Environment

Activity for Lecture 7

All of you must answer this first question:

 

America refused to sign the Declaration of the Rights of the Child.   What aspects of this document are in conflict with those rights we afford children in America?  The U.S. opposed the resolution because of potential conflicts between what it views as the role of parents, sovereignty and state and local law.  Formulate an argument opposing this view.  Explain why the DRC is in harmony with both the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as well as our own Constitutional rights.
