International Studies Local Certificate
San Antonio College offers students the option of completing a 12-hour international concentration within their degree plan in order to encourage and
foster globally competent citizens. The concentration advances greater student comprehension and awareness of the changing realities of our world
and the increasing interdependence of nations as the twenty-first century unfolds. It prepares students to face the challenges of living and working in
a global community. Transnational forces, be they economic, environmental, or demographic, will continue to shape students' lives long after they
leave college. Today's job market especially requires employees who can successfully work in a globally interconnected and interdependent
environment. This concentration strives to increase students' knowledge of history, culture and languages from other countries. Through course work
in a variety of disciplines, this initiative also strives to promote greater awareness of the political, economic, environmental and social issues within an
international context that impacts U.S. citizens and residents at many different levels. Students completing this concentration will receive an
INSTITUTIONAL CERTIFICATE in International Studies.
