The Alamo Community College District was awarded a U.S. Department of Education Title VI-A Grant "Improving International Studies and Foreign Languages" between 2001 and 2003 to create opportunities for students to attain an International Studies Degree or Certificate while attending one of its colleges. San Antonio College developed degree and certificate plans and awarded 22 faculty mini grants to assist this effort. See Degrees and Certificates for further information.

In Spring 2004, ACCD received another Title VI-A Grant to augment its international programs through

      1. researching and developing specialized teaching materials for foreign language classes.
      2. researching and developing specialized teaching materials for internationalized classes.
      3. establishing study abroad opportunities for faculty and students in domestic and overseas settings.
      4. expanding the development of International Studies-related programs, certificates, and concentrations at ACCD colleges and ensure students an International Studies Continuum.

Faculty throughout the District, including six from SAC, have been awarded mini grants towards Objective 2 for the Spring/2005 semester. The same incentive will be offered again in the Fall/2006 semester. See Alamo Community College's Go Global! Web Site.
