- The Units
are well equipped for class room use and are assigned to all major
campus buildings.
- Any San Antonio College
employee is eligible to receive this training and become certified
to check the equipment out to use for presentations on campus.

Classroom
use of Multimedia Units

- Designated
classrooms are wired for Internet access.
- Instructors can introduce
Web activities students can then complete outside of class.
- Instructors may also
show CD-ROMs, view PowerPoint presentations, and generally use
the computer and projector to expand course materials beyond the
classroom.
- The units have VCRs
which allow instructors to project videos on the large screen.

Examples
of New Media use in History
Learning how to
use the equipment is the first step in developing New Media / Internet
applications for teaching. The next, is deciding how to apply it within
your course. Whether you are a first time or an experienced new media
user, the application process is a tool to help you continue to find ways
to do what you do best, teach

Learning Assistance Center (SLAC)

- The SLAC supplements
classroom instruction by offering learning strategies which enhance
the success potential of traditional and nontraditional students
in the college environment.
- Instructors may reserve
a computer classroom to conduct online learning sessions and Web
activities.

Jonathan A. Lee uses the Internet,
PowerPoint, and scanning technology to offer a mixture of visual aids
in the classroom ranging from pictures, works of art, charts, graphs,
and documents.
Carol
A. Keller uses new media to readily accommodate different learning
styles and expand student
access to sources of historical information.
- New Media provides connection
to the world beyond the classroom, and challenges students to think
about history in new and different ways.
- Keller's classes routinely
visit the SLAC.
