ORIENTATION EXERCISE—STEPS 1, 2 and 3

Must be completed by midnight, August 30 to avoid being dropped from the course on census date.


STEP 1: 
TO OFFICIALLY BEGIN THE COURSE

Answer the following questions in complete sentences and with direct reference to the question. Send via [Private] Mail found in Blackboard Vista. Do NOT place in Discussion Board.

Type in your full name (as registered) and provide your Social Security number.
* How many hours do you work outside the home? Include all jobs.
* Is it possible to study at work? Are your work hours flexible?
* How many academic hours are you attempting? Include all colleges.
* Is that academic load realistic given the number of hours you spend working outside the home, whether those hours are flexible and, more importantly, weighing family obligations?
* Have you taken an Internet course before? If the answer is no, what is your biggest concern? What do you think is the biggest difference in an online course as compared to a traditional in-the-classroom course?
* If yes, which Internet courses have you taken and successfully completed
(C or above)? For example: English 1301-C, Algebra 1303--B
* How many total number of academic hours (C or above) have you completed so far?


STEP 2:  Take Readiness Indicator quiz and submit results.

Send via [Private] Mail.  Do NOT place in Discussion Board. Do not forget to click the Attach button.

STEP 3:  Orientation/Study Skills quiz accessible Friday, August 28, 8:00 AM until August 30, midnight.  Orientation/Study Skills quiz must be taken to avoid being dropped from the course on Census date.  All parts of Orientation Exercise must be correctly submitted by midnight, August 30th.  Students not completing orientation packet will be dropped on Monday, August 31st—census date.  There will be no reinstatements.
