How do you apply to become a Presidential Honors Scholar?

  1. Contact your high school counseling office for an application. You also may obtain an application from the Honors Program Coordinator in Room 110B of Gonzales Hall at San Antonio College, or print the application form (or click the online application) and recommendation forms (make 2 copies) from our web site.
  2. Submit the completed application form along with a cover letter stating why you want to apply, by the first Monday in June.
  3. Submit recommendation forms that have been completed by two teachers who have awarded you grades for courses at the junior or senior grade level.

Students whose honors applications have been accepted may be interviewed by the Presidential Honors Program Coordinator. They also may be asked to complete an essay on a given topic under controlled conditions at a time and place designated by the Honors Coordinator.

How do you remain in the Presidential Honors Program?

Students accepted into the program must register for at least 12 semester hours of transferrable credit fall and spring semester at San Antonio College and maintain a 3.0 grade point average or better per semester while enrolled at the College.

What do Presidential Honors Scholars receive?

Each in- District Presidential Honors Scholar receives a scholarship that defrays the full cost of tuition, fees, and $200 for books at San Antonio College.
