I. GENERAL EDUCATION: 34 Credit Hours

BIOL 1408 General Biology I,
BIOL 2401 Human Anatomy & Physiology I,
BIOL 2404 Human Anatomy & Physiology or an appropriate 4 semester Hour lab course listed in the current College Bulletin.

MATH 1314 College Algebra or
MATH 1332 Liberal Arts Math

And one of the following:

HUMA 1301 The Humanistic Tradition,

A. Drug/Alcohol Abuse Counseling 6 Credit Hours

* DAAC 2166 Drug/Alcohol Abuse Counseling Practicum I or PSYT 2164 Clinical Psychology Practicum I
* DAAC 2273 Professional and Ethical Issues
* DAAC 2167 Drug/Alcohol Abuse Counseling Practicum II

[Practicum hours for Speciality A must be obtained through DAAC treatment program approved by the Program Coordinator.]

B. Addiction Studies: 3 Credit Hours

DAAC 2329 Clinical Supervision or PSYT 1394 Clinical Supervision

C. Counseling Psychology: 3 Credit Hours

PSYT 2164 Clinical Psychology Practicum I
2 hours from PSYT 1x94 Special Topics and/or
DAAC 1x91 Special Topics (One of which must be related to Professional and Ethical Considerations.)

Total Credit Hours Required: 61

* Required for Level-I Certificate: Drug/Alcohol Abuse Counseling (33 semester hours)
** Required for Level-I Certificate: Substance Abuse Counseling (24 semester hours)

2+ 2 Programs

Formal 2+2 agreements as well as informal agreements have been established with Northwestern University, LA, Our Lady of the Lake University, St. Mary's University, Texas State University, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, and Wayland Baptist University. For more information, please contact the Human Services (HS) Program Coordinator.

Many students utilize the previously mentioned programs, especially the Associate in Applied Science Degrees, as a base toward pursuing higher-level degrees. Transferability of courses to colleges and universities varies widely. Students should contact the specific institution they would like to attend to determine exactly what courses and credit hours will be accepted and in what areas (electives or core courses). Degrees and certificates in this program may be obtained through distance education.
