Introduction to This Course and First Assignment
If you have enrolled but have questions before the course begins, contact me by email (instructorcaceres@gmail.com) or by phone (1-212-733-2188).
This is an online course and the virtual classroom will be delivered through WebCT. After class begins you will communicate with me from "within WebCT."
If you do not know anything about WebCT, click HERE and familiarize yourself with this course management system.
You will be unable to login to WebCT until the first day of class. You will login through PALS using your assigned San Antonio College netID and password. Once in PALS select and click on "My Courses." A list of your courses will appear. Click on this course and login using the same PALs login and password.
Class begins Tuesday, January 16, 2007
You will have from 8:00 a.m to 12:00 midnight to login and complete your first assignment.
To stay enrolled in this course
you will be required to participate in weekly discussions and email me why, if you don't participate weekly, to avoid being dropped from the course.
For this time only, an assignment will be posted on this web site. This assignment and ALL OTHER ASSIGNMENTS will be provided to you "INSIDE WebCT."
Assigment Number 1: The first day of class, the first assignment is to login to WebCT, select this course entitled "Internet Research" and "enter" the course.
When you enter the course, the WebCT menu page will have a navation menu on the left and a homepage. You will see "Read Me First" on the homepage. Do read that document. It contains pretty much the same instructions you have found in this document."Read Me First" will instruct you to complete the "About Me" questionnaire. Click on "About Me," and complete all the questions. Just below the last question that you will complete will be a button "Submit." Press the submit button. Return to the homepage.
On the homepage locate the icon called "Discussion" and click on it. You will see a discussion topic "About Me " and a message already there from me.
Now I want you to send a message to the whole class.
Tell the class who you are, what your major is, why you are taking this course and something about you and your educational goals. Do you have a family? Pets? Hobbies?
Ignoring This Assignment
The rest of the course content will be "locked" until you complete and submit the "About Me " questionnaire.
If you do not complete your first assignment the first day of class you will have to write me a letter by email explaining why you were late joining this class, why you should not be dropped, why you should be allowed to join this course late and why you will be committed to completing all assigments from this day forward.
This course can help you with class and fun stuff you want to do on the internet.
