SECTION VI  

Learning Outcome 1: The student will be able to manage time more efficiently in his life and in academic pursuit.

Performance Objective: Student will analyze personal use of time and establish improved scheduling procedures

Method of Measurement: Satisfactory completion of Weekly Time Management Worksheet (70% accuracy in identifying, prioritizing and accounting for personal activities within this framework) and presentation of selected “day timer” which will be used during the semester training.(70% accuracy in prioritizing and planning activities that would have positive affect on academic success)

 

Learning Outcome 2: The student will be able to write comprehensive, organized class notes.

Performance Objective: Student will observe examples of effective note-taking techniques and participate in class discussions, sharing their own hints for improving the process.

Method of Measurement: Student will take notes froma 15 minute in-class lecture on a selected subject and this sample will be compared to a teacher-prepared sample over the presented information. (70% accuracy is required).

 

Learning Outcome 3: The student will be able to utilize the College Learning Resource Center, Career Planning Center, on-line library and Eportal.

Performance Objective: Student will observe presentations by resource librarian, Career Planning Center counselor and Basic Skills Computer Lab staff, perform online research, and set up SAC email address.

Method of Measurement: Student will complete a career research project and email message to instructor to demonstrate competency. (70% accuracy is required).

 

Learning Outcome 4: The student will be able to independently register for appropriate college courses.

Performance Objective: Student will select a degree plan, complete a Developmental Course Planner, learn to read a semester schedule and submit a Registration Worksheet for the subsequent semester before the first day of open registration.

Method of Measurement: Student will turn in completed registration for upcoming semester (with 100% accuracy).

 

Learning Outcome 5: The student will be familiar with SAC campus and know how to access rules and regulations.

Performance Objective: Student will participate in guided campus tour, in-class fact finding in the current bulletin and problem resolution of dramatic scenarios.

 Method of Measurement: Student will be observed in class and will be required to earn at least a 70 on the Departmental SAC Bulletin Exam.
