Who To Contact To Sign Up For Training

Online Training: Blackboard Vista Fast Track
Facilitated by Sandra T. Caceres, Instructional Designer, ITIC
Eligibility
: Faculty must be internet certified for online and/or blended courses.

Participants will access an online training program and be provided a blank Blackboard Vista shell in which to perform and practice the training exercises.

Course Description:
The course consists of 6 learning modules which inform and demonstrate the software tool purpose and use. The information is presented in print and in short video clips.

Course Length: The estimated training pace is 7 weeks, two hours per week, although some may complete the units more rapidly.

There are exercises with deadlines that the participants are to complete each week. This is not a self-paced course other than the participants having a full week, any hour, to complete a unit.

Sandra will provide feedback, guidance and support as participants perform the training exercises.

If the online participants feel they need reinforcements on the tool training, space permitting, they will be allowed to sit in on the F2F training module in which they are having difficulties.

Requirements: All training must be completed to be eligible for teaching in Blackboard Vista as mandated by district.

Participant training progress will be tracked using the Vista tracking system.

A minimum of two learning units must be completed to pass the course “design- mechanics review” at the end of training.
This review will be made with the participant’s fore knowledge, through the “teacher” access of the course, and performed by Sandra T. Caceres and/or the Internet Faculty Coordinator, Fred O. Kinman using the Internet Course Readiness Rubric. This document will be provided in advance to all participants as a personal checklist.

Failure to complete training will postpone your eligibility to teach in Blackboard Vista as mandated by district.

Enrollment Process:

Contact: Sandra T. Caceres, Instructional Designer, ITIC

…to inform her of your desire to receive training. Sandra will collect faculty training preferences and supply that data to ITIC for setting up training sessions.

Faculty will register in Train Trak. ITIC will send out a notice informing those who have stated their intent to enroll for training that the course (exact listing) is up and ready for registration.

All faculty participants, regardless of training option, will attend a mandatory orientation presented by district personnel.

During this orientation, faculty will submit the list of courses they plan to modify and teach in Blackboard Vista. This information will provide the data district needs to generate the blank practice shells and course specific Blackboard Vista shells to each faculty participant.

Participants may choose to migrate existing courses from WebCT to Blackboard Vista or design their courses from scratch.
