"One
of our former English faculty members, Professor John Igo, retired not
long ago after 43 years of service to the college. Besides his professional
career in teaching, Professor Igo has been a vital, creative force in
the community-writing articles and reviews, giving poetry readings, and
performing in plays. Therefore, we asked him to participate in a video
production for the college's 75th anniversary celebration. His summation
statement in the video captures the essence of the community college mission
to open the doors of opportunity and success for our students.
In this brief segment from
the full video, you're going to see snapshots of six outstanding former
students from San Antonio College beginning with Congressman Henry B.
Gonzalez. He'll be followed by Dr. Jerome Weynand, President and Chancellor
of this college district; Tino Duran, publisher of La Prensa; Francis
(Dick) Scobee, Commander of the Challenger spacecraft; Jesse Trevino,
artist; Patsy Torres, singer and entertainer. Please enjoy this one-minute
video narrated by Professor John Igo."
