Online/Blended Course |
|
The following procedures are for faculty members that are modifying an existing course and have never formally presented a course in front of members of the SAC Online Advisory Committee. 1. Have the chairperson of your department send a memo indicating your plans to develop or modify an online/blended course to the following administrators:
2. Take several courses through the Instructional Innovation Center (MLC 716) in order to get certified to modify online/blended courses, if you are not yet certified. If you are modifying a blended course, you must participate in a workshop taught by Dawn Elmore-McCrary, if you have not already done so. 3. Join the sacinet listserve if you are not already a member. 4. The last step of the certification process (if applicable) is to modify an existing online/blended course. Be sure the course is being modified to satisfy the SAC Online Advisory Committee requirements. These are the requirements that will be used to review and approve your course. If your course uses WebCT as a platform, you must contact Amita Mahajan at 220-1530. Ask her to open up your WebCT course for review. It is preferred that the course be on the WebCT developmental server, not the production server. 5. Modify your course and email the course url and a WebCT ID and password (if applicable) to the sacinet listserve at sacinet@accd.edu, asking your colleagues to review it. The deadline for submitting your course to the sacinet list serve is: October 8 (Spring Courses) 6. Consider the comments and suggestions provided by your colleagues and make changes to your course that you feel might be necessary or appropriate. 7. Mr. Kinman will review your course within the next few weeks and provide feedback. Your course will either be approved or you may be asked to make changes until all requirements have been satisfied. 8. Pending the approval of your course, have your certification sheet signed and stamped by Mr. Kinman and submit it to the Instructional Innovation Center in order to complete your certification (if applicable). 9. Fill out the THECB section of the Internet Course Criteria Form, sign and date the last page, and pony it to Mr. Kinman in the Instructional Technologies & Innovations Center. 10. Soon after the criteria form has been submitted, an email will be sent to you, Dean Ruben Flores, Helen Torres, and your chair, indicating the approval of your course.
