Square check box image 5. Write your introduction to the class in WebCT.
READ EVERYTHING about it before you begin
.
After reading this section, Log into WebCT 4.0 and click on
the "Bulletin Board" WebCT Bulletin Board imagebutton.

            a. Find the topic called"Introduce Yourself." You may
want to read the two example introductions I prepared.
These two are very different introductions for myself.
Yours may be short or long, but keep in mind that if it
is too long people may not want to read it.

                 (1) The first example is long and tells a lot about my life.

                 (2) The other example is very short and general.

            b. Find the button that says "Compose Discussion Message"
                and click on it.

            c. Think about what you would like to tell members of the
                class about yourself.
Write a few paragraphs that members
of the class will read and get to know you. Share some of your
experiences, interests, accomplishments, and future goals.

Do not share anything too personal or inappropriate.
Everyone will be able to read what you say.

            d. Use only one of the two following methods to prepare your
                 introduction.

                 (1) You may type your introduction directly into the
                       WebCT message box window.

                 (2) Or, you may write your introduction in a
                       word processor

                        * Let the text wrap as you type.
                        * When satisfied with what you have written,
                        * Read it carefully and spell check it.
                        * Hi light the text and copy it.
                        * Go to the WebCT bulletin board & paste
                           it into the box.

---To copy your text, select the text with your
mouse, then press the "CTRL" key and
"C" key at the same time.

---You can paste this same message into
the discussion board by pressing the
"CTRL" key and "V" key at the same
time to paste it. That way you will not have
                                 to re-write it.

These are pretty universal copy and
paste command that works on most
                                  computers and programs.

            e. Be sure to press the "Preview" button to see how your
                message will look.

            f. If you do not like the way it looks, press the "Edit"
button to change it. You may "Edit" as many times as
                you like.

            g. Ask yourself,
"Will I be comfortable having other people read my
introduction"? Remember once you "Post" you cannot
change what you have said. If it looks like you want it to
                look, press the "Post" button.

            h
. Submission of your introduction will be worth 5 points
extra credit added to your  "In Class" grade category
and will represent one class attendance .

Square check box image 6. Take time to read the introductions of all your other
classmates by the end of Week #2.

Square check box image 13.  Recently I was asked by UTSA to prepare information
related to "Success for On-line Learners."  Although this
Web sit has quite a bit of information that is redundant to the
orientation for this class,  you might find some of it useful to
you.  I would especially like for you to read the tab related to
                    - "Protecting your Identity & Security"
                    - "If Problems Occur Don't Drop the Course"

This is optional and may be accessed at the following Web site.
