Your reading lab work will be completed on the Internet.

You must complete the following reading lab practice during the semester.

Reading Lab Requirements

A.  My Reading Lab

              1. When you purchase a NEW (not USED) "Bridging the Gap"
textbook, it will be packaged with an access card for a computer
                   software program called
"My Reading Lab," with Grade Tracker,
that you will use to complete your lab lesson requirements for this
semester. (See the Tutorial at the end of this section.)

               2. Each of the 16 units contain readings with Practice Exercises
and Mastery Tests.  You must complete ALL Practice and Mastery
                   lessons.

Each of these units relate to a chapter in the Bridging the Gap
textbook and introduces skills and strategies which are emphasized
in the text and in Daily Assignments. The lab software lessons may
also help generate interest in the the chapter lessons and help you
acquire a better understanding of the skills.

This practice and feedback will help you achieve a higher score on
                    your major exams.

               3. You will be expected to complete one of the sixteen lessons
in "My Reading Lab" each week.
You should allocate sufficient
time to read each lesson carefully.

Your grade for each lab module will be the average of all your
scores from your practice exercises and mastery tests for each
                   of the 16 lesson topics.

(Documented score means you have submitted your score sheet
to me as described in your weekly assignments and that your scores
are recorded in the Grade Tracker within "My Reading Lab" online.)

               4. Each week you will complete a Lab Module made up of:
                                     "Overview"
"Point of Interest," then follows with
"Reading Models." After this complete the
                                     "Practice Exercises" and finally the
                                     "Mastery Tests."

You should complete each lesson by the Week # on the MRL Lab
                   Record Sheet.

Some units have different numbers of questions. Use ONLY the
official MRL Lab Record Sheet I email you in WebCT. On the record

                                      a. Print the Lab Record Sheet.

B.  Extra Credit Reading: ACE Practice Tests

               1. Only after you have finished all the "My Reading Lab" complete part B of
your reading lab for extra credit. For each of the 20 practice tests on which
you achieve 70% or higher and have the program email me the score,
you will receive one extra credit point on your lab grade.

If you are reading this before the semester begins, you may complete these
extra credit readings now to get a head start.

Click here to obtain the record sheet for your extra credit lab,
"Part B - ACE Practice Tests."

               2. This online reading practice is similar to "My Reading Lab" in that you
read and answer online and have the program email me your answers.
However, there is no user name or password required. You just go to
                   the Web site and begin.

For each practice test you should:

                               a. Immediately record your score on the answer sheet mentioned
above . The program does not store your answers.

                               b. Have the program email me at cwolf@accd.edu to give me
your answers. Fill in the information as listed below and add
your own name as the student.

You should choose to have the program send you a copy to
your email address. Remember, however, that you cannot
send it into WebCT email; you must use a regular email
account if you want a copy.

ACE score report emailed to the instructor: put your name, course, Charlotte Wolf as instructor, cwolf@accd.edu as instructor's email. Use HTML format

                               c. There are twenty (20) practice exercises with two paragraphs
and questions for each of the 20.

                               d. Click here to go to the ACE Practice Reading Web Site.
You may also copy the Web address listed below and paste
it into your browser address space.
