Getting into the WebCT 4.0 Classroom
READ ALL of these directions BEFORE attempting to login.
This section outlines how to get into the electronic classroom. If you have
trouble with this or anything on the web, make at least three attempts,
then try again later. If you continue to have difficulty, call the ACCD Support
Central Help Desk at 210-220-1616, then press 1.
A. Open an Internet browser to access the World Wide Web.
(Internet Explorer will work better.) It can be download free.
B. In order to get into WebCT 4.0, you must FIRST log into the SAC
"PALS Portal. " (PALS = Personal Access to Learning & Services)
PALS is an enhanced version of the SAC Portal with many new features
for you to use.
The SAC PALS Portal is a secure web site in which you will find many
resources that will be useful to you. If you have taken WebCT classes
in the past, you will notice that the portal has a NEW look and a NEW
link which replaced the old SAC ePortal you may have used before. You
will use the same user name and password that you used with the old
ePortal.
If you have not used the portal before, look at the 5-step directions
just below the PALS login box to show you how to get your portal user
name and default password. Be sure to change your password
to something only you know when you log in.
Some of the resources available to you there are:
- Online registration for courses
- View your transcripts
- Check your grades
- Library Online
- WebCT 4.0 courses you are taking
- Free email address (This is a permanent email address that you may
continue using even after you finish your study at SAC. You must use
it often, however, or it will be made inactive.
The PALS email system is NOT available for a while between 2:00
and 6:00 a.m. while they back up the system.

C. Click on the SAC PALS Portal link below to login. NOTICE:
This is a NEW link which replaced the old SAC ePortal you may
have used before. You will use the same user name and password
that you used with the old ePortal.
PALS looks a little different, but you will still see many of the familiar tabs.

NOTICE: If you are NEW to the SAC Portal system, follow the
instructions just below the PALS Portal login box which are:
Step 1: Click to obtain your PALS Portal user name. You
must type in your social security number when asked.
Make record of your SAC PALS Portal user name in
a secure location.
If you experience difficulty logging into the PALS Portal
call ACCD Information Technologies Support Central
Help Desk at 210-220-1616 and then press 1.
Step 2: Your beginning password is the:
First Two characters of your Last name in UPPER
CASE followed by the Last Six digits of your Social
Security Number
ex. John Doe
SSN = 123987654
John Doe's Password = DO987654
Step 3: After logging in for the first time, you must change your
password to something your can remember but others
will not be able to guess. Do not record this where it
can be found by someone else.
DO NOT tell ANYONE your password.
D. Once your are in the PALS portal you will see this menu.

You SHOULD change your password right away and may change
it again, anytime you want. While in PALS look at the top left of your
screen to find the "My Account " button, as seen above. While logged
into PALS, click on "My Account " to change your password.
E. You will also see your PALS Portal e-mail button on the top right side of
the menu, as shown below.

This is a regular e-mail program that you can use with your friends
or as an alternate way to contact me if you cannot get into WebCT.
However, DO NOT use it for regular submission of assignments or
class communications. Use only the email in WebCT, for the class.
F. Click on the "My Courses" tab, as shown above in "D". Click on the drop
down menu called "Course Schedule for:" to select the semester you want,
as shown in the image below.

Look for your Reading 0303.090 class listed under the topic of
"Courses I'm Attending, as shown below.

Click on "COLL READING SKLS" to get into WebCT 4.0
G. If you cannot get into WebCT, call call the ACCD Support Central Help
Desk at 210-220-1616, then press 1.
