1. If you follow a link and the Back key becomes disabled, it's probably
because the page has opened in a new browser window. Close it by
clicking on the X-box in the top right corner of the screen, and your last
page should show.
2. After you get into the the WebCT site, use the navigation buttons
and bars within the WebCT program. DO NOT use the "Back"
Button on your browser to navigate to a previous page when
in WebCT. use the "Bread Crumbs" as shown in the image below.
These are words showing where you have been, and you can click on
any one of them to return.

3. Online learning requires a lot of patience. You may feel overwhelmed
at first, but if you take a little time to practice, you will soon become
comfortable with the course delivery system.
4. In WebCT, you will see several important"Buttons" such as:
- The "Discussion" button
. Where you will
discuss topics with your class mates for a grade.
Check this area each day for new discussion
questions from me or from your classmates.
- The "Mail" button
, to send an email
message. Use ONLY the WebCT email program
class, for this not your regular email program to
contact me. Check this button each day to see if
you have any messages.
- The "Course Content"
where
I will place information about the course.
Everything in my "outside web site" is here.
- The "Assignments" for each week.

Check this link every week to see what you must
do for your grades and attendance.
- The "Quiz & Daily Work Submissions"

where you will take your quizzes and submit daily
exercise answers from your text book. The
Assignments will tell you what to do here.
- The "Reading Road Trip (RRT)" lab

button. The directions of how to do the lab is here,
and there is a link to the RRT web site where you
will do your la work.
- The class "Calendar" button.

Check on this each week to get a brief overview
of the most important things for the week. Be sure
to see the "Assignments" for important details.
- The "Scores & Progress" button

to see your scores after completing work.
5. If your WebCT windows do not load and stay white, read the
following things that may cause the problem.
- You may have to turn off your Pop Up Blocker.
You may have more than one kind.
- You may have to turn off your Firewall.
- If your Internet access is through a dial-up
modem, you may have to wait several
seconds for each window to open.
Cable or DSL works much faster.
6. If you click on a button or link and WebCT, and it does not come
up even when you click it again and again, it is probably already
open behind one of the other windows on you computer. You can
hold the "Alt" key down and press the "Tab" key to cycle through
all of the windows open on your computer to find the lost window.
7. If you do some work on the class every day you will not get behind
and feel overwhelmed or risk getting a bad grade.
8. In WebCT, you will see a "Help" button on the upper right side of
the window. This may help for other questions.
9. Each week I will have a "Discussion" question where you may ask
for help. If you have problems, don't get frustrated, send a discussion
message to me and your classmates to ask for help. Check the
discussion for the week occasionally see if others are needing your
help on something.
10.To "Exit" while in WebCT, click on "Logout" located near the top of the
screen or just close the browser.
