  Discussions in the Online Classroom:

The WebCT bulletin board class discussion enhances the learning experience
for all members of the class. The postings represent your reply to questions
that would be asked if you were taking this class in an on-campus classroom
and will be an important part of your "in class" grade. These postings will also
help you get to know you online classmates and make new friends. Please
use good online behavior and "netiquet." when using the WebCT discussion
board and WebCT email.

The bulletin board is what is known as "asynchronous" discussion. In
other words,
we will not all be using it at the same time. The discussion
is not a real-time chat that
requires anyone to be online at a certain time.
A student may post a reply at anytime of the day or night. The messages
will go onto the discussion board when students post them and will usually
remain there throughout the semester.

The electronic classroom serving this course resides in a World Wide
Web site that is accessible anywhere you can enter the Web.

1. You will be asked to post to the discussion board one or more
times each week. If you post your messages by the deadline you
     will receive class attendance credit.

2.  When you have time, it is good to go in and read what others have
     written in the
bulletin board.

3. One message may also serve as a source for other postings.

4. If you do not understand part of your assignment, you might post a
     message on the
bulletin board to ask for for clarification from me or
one of your classmates. This is
like talking with classmates before
or after an on campus class.

5. At various times during the semester, I will post a message to the
     bulletin board in
WebCT. These postings may be discussion questions
or a request for you to
provide answers to assignments in Bridging the
     Gap workbook.

             a. Requests for you to post a message will be listed on your
                  Assignment sheet
for each week.

             b. You should post a reply to each message by the due date for
each discussion or set of questions.
