Six Major Exams, Mid-term Exam, & Final Exam

           Six Major Exams
                    1. There will be six major exams during the semester.

                    2. Each exam will cover approximately two chapters each.

                    3. These exams will be take on-line at your convenience at any location
                       you like.

                    4. I will drop (throw away) the one (1) lowest of your six Major Exam
                    
  grades at the END of the semester.

          Mid-term Exam
                    1. The mid-term exam will cover skills from all chapters up to the exam
                       date.

                    2. The mid-term exam must be taken in a proctored testing lab
                       This may be at San Antonio College, MLC 716, on scheduled dates,
                       or if you do not live in San Antonio, at an approved proctored
                       testing lab in your city. Contact me if you will be taking this exam
                       at a location other than San Antonio College.

                    3. The mid-term exam may NOT be dropped.

          Final Exam
                    1. The final exam is an exit competency test, which is a requirement for
                       passing Reading 0303, and it must be taken during the week scheduled
                       for final exams.

                    2. In order to pass the course, a student must pass the final exam. This
                       is a policy of the Reading and Education Department.

                    3. The final exam must be taken in a proctored testing lab.  This
                       may be at San Antonio College, MLC 716, on scheduled dates, or if
                       you do not live in San Antonio, at an approved proctored testing lab
                       in your city. Contact me if you will be taking this exam at a location
                       other than San Antonio College.

          Time-line & Values for Major & Mid-term Exams:

                        a. Exams taken during the week they are due
                               - Version "A
"
                               - Five extra bonus points will be added (+5).

                        b. Exams taken one week or more late
                               - Version "B" (More difficult)
                               - No extra credit points will be given

                        c. There is no penalty for taking an exam early, so plan ahead.

           Mid-term and Final Exam Location Requirements
                    1. You must present a valid photo ID: driver's license, military ID, or
                       SAC ID.

                    2. Exams will be administered, under supervision, on computers in the
                       proctored testing facility.

                    3. Exams will last from one to two hours. Additional time will be required
                       for parking, check in, and set-up. Plan to arrive early so you will be at
                       your best.

                    
4. Books or other study aids are not permitted unless specified in writing
                       and signed by the instructor. Do not bring books or study materials into
                       the testing facility.

                    
5. Your desk, chair, and lap must be clear of all materials, tissues, and
                       personal items during an exam.

                    
6. After an exam has begun, you may NOT leave the room until you finish
                       or you will forfeit your grade.

                    
7. No talking or communication with others inside or outside the testing
                       facility will be permitted during an exam.

                    
8. No children or other guests will be permitted in the testing facility.

                    9. San Antonio College policies state that children may not be left
                       unattended in any area on campus.

                  10. All pagers and cell phones must be turned off during an exam.

                  11. Any misunderstanding will be directed to the instructor.

                  12. Students who fail to follow these directions will be ineligible to use
                       the testing facility.
