Advanced Method for Website Development
        See and learn how stylesheets, server-side includes, javascript,
        and active server  pages (ASP) were used in the creation of the 
        Instructional Technology Center's Website. The role of content |
        planning and organization will also be discussed.

AlaMOO
        This presentation describes a proposed Educational MOO
        for the Alamo Community College District. MOO stands for
        MultiUserDomain (or Dimension or Dungeon) Object Oriented.
        Basically, in MOOs multiple users can log into a site to
       converse in a text-based virtual reality. They can also interact
        with objects (teaching tools that can be built and programmed
        to respond).  MOOs are internet accessible, text mediated
        virtual environments well suited for distance learning. MOOs
        also offer every participant the opportunity to construct spaces
        and objects and to write code that in some way augments or
        increases the functionality with these virtual spaces. In this
        sense, MOOs are constructed social spaces in a dynamic
        process of continual evolution.  In recent years, MOOs have
        increasingly been created for educational purposes.  Come
        hear this presentation on what an Educational MOO can mean
        for the Alamo Community College District.

         documents for Arts and Sciences faculty use.

        for use in the "new" online learning environment.  This course

Budget Tracking for ACCD Accounts with Excel Spreadsheets
        Experienced ACCD budget managers are aware that the 
        balances shown in the Advantage system often do not prove 
        to be accurate.  There can be a delayed reaction in the system 
        in showing deductions for what has been expended.  When
        viewing the Advantage screens, it is it may show more money 
        than is actually there.

        Come to this class and get a Microsoft  Excel spreadsheet 
        template which has been set up for each object code and 
        automatically calculates an accurate  balance as you type in 
        the amounts that are encumbered and or expended.  By doing
        so there is no guess work in what is left to be spent.  You can

       For Promoting Faculty Web Page

        two-hour session which will provide easy solutions for placing
        numerous Faculty web pages online quickly. If possible, Web
        Developers should bring a floppy or Zip disk with the syllabi
        for each instructor as well as any other pertinent Faculty data
        such as office hours and contact information.

Digital Video Options & Ideas - Seminar
        Learn about the digital video cameras and editing equipment
        available at the Instructional Technology Center. This class 
        will feature hands-on experience with our Canon and JVC 
        miniDV digital video cameras, Macintosh editing computers, 
        and the iMovie and Premiere editing programs. Video shots
        by participants will be uploaded to the Web for later viewing 
        and also transferred to VHS video. Ideas for teaching 
        applications for digital video will be discussed.

       Impatica for PowerPoint compresses the file size of a PowerPoint
       presentation to make Web delivery more efficient. It also enables
       the end user to view a PowerPoint presentation without having th
       any special software installed.

       Impatica On Cue is a soft ware program that integrates and
       synchronizesPowerPoint presentations with a video screen,
       aduio, and text notes.When the end user clicks on the side menu,
       it immediately synchronizesthe video and audio with the presentation
       at that point.

Instructional Technologies & Innovation Center - Staff Meeting
       This time is set aside for the staff of our center to meet each week
       to plan and take care of departmental business. There will be limited
       technical support between 9:30 and 11:30 a.m.

International Programs:  Opportunity for Faculty Involvement

Faculty who are interested in international education should
plan to attend this session.  The numerous current and past
programs coordinated by the ACCD International Programs
office will be discussed.  Opportunities for future faculty
involvement will be addressed.  If you have had international
education experiences, please come and share those with
other faculty.  This is an informal session designed to create
dialogue about possibilities for involvement of SAC college
faculty from all disciplines in international education.

        those who have taught classes that are offered
        completely on the Internet.

Internet Course Development Production Assistance
        This is not a formal class; the instruction is tailored to meet the
        needs of the individual faculty member who comes for 
        assistance. During this time period, the Internet Coordinator is 
        available to assist current Internet faculty or those planning to 
        teach on the Internet.

Internet Course Planning
        This is not a formal class. It is a time of consultation where
        departments or individual faculty members may discuss the
        feasibility of converting their traditional courses into an on-line
        format and make plans for implementation of an Internet course.

Internet Course Reviews - Preliminary/Final
        Newly developed Internet courses are reviewed for quality,
        readability, navigation, load time, user- friendliness and accessibility.

Jaws
        Jaws is a computer program that reads text on the computer                      Top
        screen. It speaks the works of the text and may be heard 
        through headphones or the computer speakers.  This program 
        is especially helpful for blind or visually impaired individuals.

Learning Communities Overview & Opportunities
        This session will include a general overview of the Learning
        Communities model and information about grant opportunities.

Learning Styles - Level 1
        Not all students lean in the same way, and their learning styles
        may be different from that of their instructors.  This brief workshop: 

1) Provides a brief overviews of the concept of learning styles
2)  Use on-line surveys to identify the instructor's and student's
     preferred learning styles
3)  Offers some suggestions about how to design instruction
      that addresses various learning styles and either "match"
     or "mismatch" a students preferred learning style
4)  See how understanding students' learning styles can help
       instructors  be more sensitive to the differences students 
      bring to the classroom

Legal Ramifications for Web Pages
        Topics covered include copyrights, ownership of Web sites,
        Fair use of existing images and materials you did not create
        such as those found in textbooks, on Web sites, etc.

        Learn how to use the SAC Library On-line Databases and other
