Shadowing a Ranger photographer

You are to follow a Ranger photographer from the time the photographer sets off for an assignment to the time the photographer finishes with the cutline information and put the photo in a proper place and ready for the Ranger to use.

You have one week’s time to do this. Photographers' working hours will be announced in the class and you will be given contacts to the Ranger photographers you will need to follow.

You job is mainly to observe. You are not expected to take a lot of photos of the event/people the Ranger photographer is covering. However, you are required to take 3 shots to document the photographer while working at the scene and submit to the turn-in folder.

You will need to write a 500 words report on this experience with the following:

  1. Describe the purpose of the assignment.
  2. Describe and document some major steps the photographer carried out during the assignment. Such as preparation, shooting method and strategy, ways of getting cutline information, procedure of post-production.
  3. Describe what you have learned from this observation.

The report is due 3/18 Wed. for MW class and 3/19 Thur. for TT class. Please turn in print out.

Note: You can shadow the staff photographers as a group, but not more than 2 persons in a group.
