Catalog Description: This course is a continuation of KINE 1106 with the presentation of more intense and advanced weight training techniques. |

Pre-requisites, co-requisites and other requirements: KINE 1106, Beginning Weight Training or
equivalent college- level course. |

IV. |
Instruction will consist of: Lecture in relation to principles of physical fitness and related forms of exercise. Demonstration and participation in various weight training routines such as circuit training and the use of percentages of maximum lifts. The conduct of the class will consist of the use of free weights and weight machines. Safety in the classroom will be emphasized. |

Learning Outcomes and Performances Objectives with their methods of measurements as used to determine the students’ mastery of those outcomes. Learning Outcome 1: The student will be able to complete a percentage workout while still being able to finish the circuit workout on an individual level. Performance Objective/Methods of measurements for each objective: 1. The student will be able to do a percentage workout based initially on the beginning weight training ratio test. Evaluation will be 100% performance. 2. The student will be able to take the adjusted pulse rate and measure their cardiovascular fitness. Evaluation will be 100% performance. Learning Outcome 2: The student will be able to perform a complete circuit on an individual basis, while completely implementing all safety rules. Performance Objective/Methods of measurements for each objective: 1. The student will be able to complete a full circuit while performing the correct amount of weight. Evaluation will be 100% performance. 2. The student will be able to do an endurance workout and measure their endurance and cardiovascular fitness. Evaluation will be 100% performance. 3. The student will be able to implement and perform the ratio test by increasing weights in a safe and organized way. Evaluation will be 100% performance. |

Course requirements and grade computation. |

A. |
College Requirements: A written, comprehensive final examination, not to exceed three hours in length, shall be given at the end of each semester for each course at the regular scheduled time. Any exceptions to these requirements must be approved by the appropriate dean. Other examinations are given at the discretion of the instructor. A student who must be absent from the final examination should petition that instructor for permission to postpone the examination. A student absent without permission from a final examination is graded “F.” Postponed examinations result in a grade of “I.” The final exam must be taken within 120 calendar days from the end of the semester or the grade automatically becomes an “F.” (San Antonio College Bulletin, Faculty Handbook – January 1995) |
