SUBJECT: ADA POLICY

SECTION: SPECIAL SERVICES                                   DATE: OCTOBER 1998

According to a memo from Dr. Zeigler, dated August 13,1998, "the college has the responsibility to provide reasonable accommodations to qualified students with disabilities for all educational programs ... Any student who needs accommodations should be referred to the disABILITY Support Service (DSS) Office."

With three elevators in the Moody Learning Center, the San Antonio College Library/LRC is physically accessible. Our library catalog, Local Area Network, and Web computers have access that are at a height to accommodate wheelchairs.

Library/LRC employees shall provide equal service for all students and the public. Librarians will assist students and the public with reference questions. Employees may extend service to do some photocopying (2-5 copies) or retrieval of shelved materials. If no one is available to assist, the student or public patron may make an appointment with Dr. Cook (733-2483). To ensure access to the stacks and other library holdings, students can also make arrangements through the disABILITY Support Services Office (733-2347) to schedule an appointment for assistance.

Assistive Devices located in the Library/LRC:

BookWise/Reading Edge for blind, visually impaired, and learning disabled students to access printed materials.

JAWS for Windows for blind students to access the Internet and Catalog.

ZoomText for visually impaired students to access the Internet and Catalog.
