2. Academic Search Complete [EBSCO] Contains indexing for 9,810 publications, with full text for more than 5,300 of those titles. PDF backfiles to 1865 are available for well over one hundred journals, and searchable cited references are provided for more than 1,000 titles. Academic Search Complete contains full text coverage in biology, chemistry, engineering, physics, psychology, religion & theology, etc.

3. Access Science: McGraw-Hill Encyclopedia of Science and Technology Online[McGraw-Hill] Full text database includes the McGraw-Hill Encyclopedia of Science and Technology, the McGraw-Hill Yearbooks of Science and Technology, and the McGraw-Hill Dictionary of Scientific and Technical Terms.

4. AccuNet/AP Multimedia Archive [AccuNet/AP] Searchable archive of historical and contemporary Associated Press photographs from the nineteenth century to the present. Brief stories available for most contemporary photos 48 hours after publication. Also included are maps, charts, logos and other graphics produced for the AP. WARNING! Use Internet Explorer. Netscape Navigator 6.2 is not supported by this database.

5. AGRICOLA [EBSCO] This database contains bibliographic records from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's National Agricultural Library. Coverage for AGRICOLA dates back to 1970 and includes more than 2.5 million citations. The citations are comprised of journal articles, monographs, theses, patents, software, audiovisual materials, and technical reports related to agriculture.

7. Alt Health Watch [EBSCO] This alternative health database provides full text for 180 publications in the collection, including full text for many peer-reviewed journals. Alt HealthWatch provides in-depth coverage across the full spectrum of subject areas covered by complementary and alternative medicine dating back to 1990.

8. America: History and Life [EBSCO] Includes citations from over 2000 international periodicals on the history and culture of the U.S. and Canada. Also includes some book reviews and relevant doctoral dissertations.

9. American FactFinder [U.S. Census Bureau] Searchable access to reports, statistical tables, and thematic maps from the Census Bureau that reveal the trends and characteristics of the population, communities, and economy from Census 2000. Includes historical information on the U.S. Census from 1790 to 2000.

10. American National Biography [Oxford UP] Provides access to information on more than 17,000 American men and women who have helped shape the country. Contains links to illustrations, web sites, an dlinked cross-references. Published under the auspices of the American Council of Learned Societies.

11. American Periodical Series Online, 1740-1900 [ProQuest] Digitized reproductions of more than 1,000 18th and 19th century newspapers and periodicals, useful in the study of U. S. History, American literature, and journalism.

12. Architectural Publications Index (API), 1980 - present. [Royal Institute of British Architects] International coverage; updated daily, a free index produced by the RIBA library. Indexes over 200 highly respected architectural periodicals as well as books and other information from the RIBA library.

21. Bowker's Books in Print [R.R. Bowker Co.] Find title, author, ISBN number ( a unique number for the book) and publisher information for over 3.4 million books, along with 600,000 full text reviews of many of these books. Give the information to a librarian for easy ordering for their collection or through interlibrary loan. One can also search by "Children's Room" to find age and reading level specific books, cassettes and videos; or search "In the Media," which allows one to browse titles mentioned on such popular media as Oprah Book Club, Today Show, and National Public Radio.

Business Source Complete (more sources than in Business Source Premier) [EBSCO] This is the world's definitive scholarly business database, providing the ultimate collection of bibliographic and full text content. Business Source Complete contains far more active, peer-reviewed, business related journals than any other database currently available. As part of the comprehensive coverage offered by this database, indexing and abstracts for the most important scholarly business journals back to 1886 are included. 24. The Chronicle of Higher Education Source of news, information, and jobs for college and university faculty members and administrators.

25. CINAHL Plus with Full Text [EBSCO] (the Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature) Provides indexing for 3,001 journals, with coverage dating as far back as 1937, the articles formerly available in the Pre-CINAHL database (i.e., before the articles are fully indexed), and searchable cited references for more than 1,155 journals. CINAHL Plus with Full Text provides full text for 336 journals, plus legal cases, clinical innovations, critical paths, drug records, research instruments and clinical trials. 28. Congressional Research Service Reports Free search service for all Congressional Research Service reports that have been posted on the web. The CRS is the public policy research arm of the U.S. Congress and is known for non-partisan, in-depth analysis of public policy issues. CRS does not publish its reports, but many of them have been made available by government agencies and members of Congress.

Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) [Lund University Libraries] Provides indexing, abstracting, and free full text access for selected international scholarly journals in many subject areas, including agriculture and food science, biology, chemistry, health science, languages and literature, mathematics, physics, engineering, the arts, business, environmental science, history, law, political science, philosophy, religion, and social science. Coverage varies by title (updated continuously).

    eBooks [NetLibrary] Electronic books available through netLibrary and provided by TexShare. Titles may be checked out for 24 hours. Off-campus access: Current SAC students, faculty, and staff must click on the "Create an account" link after entering netLibrary in order to search for and check out eBooks. Other individuals must "Create an account" from a publicly accessible computer at the SAC Library or any other TexShare library in order to have access. 39. eHRAF World Cultures [eHRAF] (formerly, eHRAF Collection of Ethnography) A cross-cultural database containing descriptive information on cultures and ethnic groups of the world.
40. eLibrary Curriculum [Chadwyck-Healey] Articles from magazines, newspapers and journals plus transcripts for media broadcast programs, maps and other quick reference resources. The articles include an assessment of the reading level. Originally titled Electric Library, then BigChalk, and now eLibrary Curriculum.

41. Encyclopedia of Animals [EBSCO] This extensive database provides students with thousands of easy-to-read entries about mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, dinosaurs and prehistoric animals. Each entry begins with a simple category breakdown of the animal including Kingdom, Class, Order, Genus & Species, and Geographical Locale as well as a detailed description. Many entries include colorful images.

42. Encyclopedia of Popular Music [Oxford UP] Fourth edition. Features a broad musical scope covering popular music of all genres and periods from 1900 to the present day, including jazz, country, folk, rap, reggae, techno, musicals, and world music. Database contains the 1995, 1996, 1997, and 1998 Federal Register (Volumes 60, 61, 62, and 63).

50. Ferguson's Career Guidance Center [Facts on File News Services] Information on 2000 jobs in 93 industries plus tips on interviewing, skills employers look for in potential employees and how to prepare a resume. 63. HeritageQuest Online [ProQuest] Includes local histories, published family genealogies, and primary source materials for towns and counties of all 50 States beginning with the 13 original colonies, and for Canada, England, and Ireland. Images of the decennial U.S. Federal Census for 1790, 1800, 1810, 1820, 1860, 1870, 1890, 1910 and 1920 have been indexed and are fully searchable by name. Browsable images of the Census are available from each decade 1790 to 1930 except for 1900. Indexing and images for the Census will be added as they become available.

64. Historical Archive of The London Gazette [Various Publishers] "Published by Authority". The London Gazette is the official newspaper of record for England; The Crown copyright. This web site also provides access to the Edinburgh (Scotland) Gazette and the Belfast (Ireland) Gazette, the other two official newspapers of record for the United Kingdon. Each gazette includes government notices, regulations, etc. (similar to the U.S. government's Federal Register) and notices of legal proceeings such as bankruptcies. Of special interest to students is the historical archive for each Gazette which includes issues of the Gazette and its Supplements published during World War I and World War II or relating to those wars. The archive is fully searchable; Adobe Reader is required for viewing the issues which are in PDF format. Best viewed with Internet Explorer v.5 or higher.

Includes full page, PDF format images for non-copyrighted years. Images for an additional year will be added annually to the Deep Backfile as copyright expires. 71. Index to Texas Magazines and Documents [Victoria College/Univ. of Houston at Victoria Library] A free index to selected magazines and documents published in Texas from January, 2000 to present. No full text is available in the Index, however, indexing records frequently include the URL for the article being indexed. Use the "Journal Locator" link on our home page to determine whether or not a publication is available either in the library or in one of our full text databases.

72. Information and Referral Service [United Way of San Antonio] Searchable database of social service agencies and programs located in the San Antonio, Bexar county and eleven surrounding counties. Compiled for the Community Assistance Directory published by United Way of SA. Online database is updated daily and is more up-to-date than the printed directory.

73. Information Science & Technology Abstracts [EBSCO] Information Science & Technology Abstracts is a leading database in the areas of information science. ISTA indexes journal articles from more than 450 publications plus books, research reports, and conference proceedings and patents, with ongoing comprehensive coverage of the most important periodicals in this field. 81. LexisNexis Statistical [LexisNexis] Includes the American Statistical Index and Abstracts and the full-text of the Statistical Abstract of the United States, plus the full-text of many US government statistical publications from 1995 onward.

Includes an illustrated encyclopedia with over 4,000 articles on diseases, injuries, tests, and surgeries. Also includes interactive health tutorials that describe medical procedures, surgeries, and the symptoms and effects of diseases.

96. Middle Search Plus [EBSCO] Designed to assist middle and junior high school students in learning how to research current events. 126. The Ranger Image Collection. This collection is composed of scanned images of The Ranger, the student newspaper for San Antonio College. Breaks in the collection are due to the unavailability of copies for scanning. The collection includes: Vol. 7, Fall 1931- Vol. 15, 1941; Fall 1946 - Fall 1959 (some semesters missing); Spring 1960 - Fall 1982; Spring 1988 - Fall 1998; Fall 2003; Spring 2004 - Fall 2006. (NOTE: No issues were found for Fall 1941 - Spring 1946 (WWII) and the years 1956 - 1957.) Additional images from the backfile will be added periodically. In the future, images for the current year will be added during the following year, e.g., 2005 during 2006. This collection is not searchable by keyword or subject and lacks a published index. Sanborn's Digital Texas Maps [Chadwyck-Healey] These digitized maps provide detailed property and land-use records that depicts the architecture of more than 12,000 U.S. towns and cities throughout the past one hundred years. The maps enable researchers to trace the architectural history of individual buildings or entire communities. One can see everything from building outline, size and shape, construction materials, height, building use, windows and doors, street and sidewalk widths, boundaries, house numbers, and more. Symbols for stables, garages, warehouses, and other commercial sites are also included. Factories are often labeled with the owner's name, as well as the products manufactured there. Also depicted are pipelines, railroads, wells, water mains, and dumps. Search for the maps by typing in the state or community. Each map's index helps locate streets, landmarks, and other places of historical interest. Once displayed, the maps can be manipulated, expanded, printed, and downloaded.
