PART 2 - DEVISE STRATEGY

Before getting online to search sources, take a few minutes to create a flexible, efficient search strategy.

Research question(s) or statement(s): ___________________________________________________________

A. Basic Keyword search - main keywords/phrases go across (AND), synonyms go down (OR).

B. Advanced Keyword search - you can use * to pick up various endings of a word (educat*) or use not to exclude a word (school teachers not middle) from your search. Always read the hints, tips, or help of an online search tool to find out how!

So...what's the difference between KEYWORD v. SUBJECT searching?

Hey! You can combine Keyword & Subject searching for better search results!

1. Use basic KEYWORD searching to find a couple of items that fit your topic.
2. Take a look at the SUBJECT HEADINGS listed for these items and use them to do SUBJECT searching
