QuickStart Guide: eLibrary Instruction

This checklist will help prepare you for your online library instruction session. Complete steps 1-2 on this checklist at least ONE WEEK prior to the session. You should have access to a computer with headphones or speakers so that you can hear. If you do not have access to sound, please notify me by email so I can modify the session for you: celitadearmond@gmail.com

1. Get the Plug-in

Go to http://www.elluminate.com/support/. This site will auto-check to see if you already have the plug-in. If you do not, the site provides a link (Java Offline Installation Download) so that you can manually download and install it. Elluminate is compatible with both PC and Mac. This site also includes quick orientations and tech support.

• TIP: When you click to manually download the plug-in, choose SAVE to download the plug-in to your desktop. Then click on the downloaded plug-in icon from your desktop to install.

2. Get oriented

• Click here and pick one: Online Orientation, Quick Reference Guide, or Recorded Introduction (all are 5 min.)
  
  
• Want to check your AUDIO? Click here. Try the "Audio Wizard" for a step-by-step speaker or mic check.

3. Attend the session

On the date of the session:

• Go to http://elluminatelive.accd.edu
• Click on the Meeting Name that matches your instructor/course name.
• Login name is just your first and last name.
• There is no password. Leave it blank.

Please arrive in the Elluminate classroom at least 10-15 minutes before the scheduled time. This is to help you doublecheck audio, etc. to make sure the instruction runs smoothly. If you have a built-in mic or a headset with mic, you can use it to talk during the session. Have fun!

4. Check your Database access

After the session, you'll access various library databases that fit your research topic. Off-campus access to these databases is available to current SAC students, faculty and staff. In order to verify you as a SAC community user, online databases require a login. You can get login info HERE. To check your access, try to get into this database:
