Hurricanes and Tropical Storms

  • Enhanced RADAR from Joe's weather. Time-lapsed RADAR includes wind barbs indicating wind speed and direction plus other enhancements.
  • Hurricane City specialized web site just about hurricanes. Includes links to various RADAR sites with the nearest local RADAR during landfall by an active storm.
  • U.S. National Hurricane Center from the National Weather Service. Includes maps, projected path, warnings, and data on currently active tropical cyclones (hurricanes) and tropical storms for the Atlantic/Carribean and Pacific basins, plus information on tropical weather and links to other nations' national hurricane centers.
  • U.S. Naval Research Laboratory's Tropical Cyclone (Hurricane) page. Includes projected path, current satellite images and other data for active tropical storms and hurricanes in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.
  • The Weather Underground's Tropical Weather Page Includes map showing surface temperature of the water in areas where hurricanes develop; links to information on active tropical storms and hurricanes including computer models, weather blogs on current storms from experts, and maps. Check out the Dr. Jeff Masters' experience as a hurricane hunter flying into Hurricane Hugo and almost not making it out!
