Educational Multimedia Center (EMC)

The Media Services Department's Educational Multimedia Center (EMC) provides a variety of academic and promotional multimedia services to the Alamo Colleges. The EMC is located in the Moody Learning Center, room 624.

Classroom Recording:
Recording a classroom lecture or studio production can also be an important tool for learning. It can allow a student to review the materials presented or it may be given to a student who missed a lecture or a special presentation. Our media technicians are available to record your classroom lectures, guest speakers, or student programs. To schedule a campus recording session, call (210) 486-0589 or stop by our facility in MLC 624. Please provide the following information:

  • Contact person & phone number
  • Date / Time of event
  • Location
  • Brief description of activity
  • Department account number

TV Studio Recording:
A state-of-the-art TV studio is available for student presentations, products demos, interviews, lectures, classes, etc. The studio is equipped with three broadcast quality cameras, a control room, stage props, and classroom seating. All talents must sign a release form before recording session. There is no charge for the use of the studio. Clients may bring their videotape, DVD or purchase one from the EMC. Appointments are made on a first come, first served basis. Remember to schedule your TV recording session at least two weeks in advance.

Videocourse Playback:
EMC is the central hub for distribution of the Alamo Colleges credit videocourses programs, K-12 Districts news magazines, and special educational programs for the City of San Antonio. Programs are broadcast on Time-Warner Channel 98 and Grande Channel 23. See Distance Education for a list of videocourses and times.

Televideo Conferencing:
Monthly "telelearning" program scheduling provides the college community with access to the various available satellite programs.

Videotape Duplication:
EMC offers limited tape duplication services for instructional purposes. Tapes can usually be duplicated within a week, depending on the number of duplications and number of pending requests. Tape duplication jobs are completed in the order in which they are received. There is no charge for labor. However, there is a charge for videotape and other supplies. EMC complies with U.S. copyright laws.

DVD Duplication:
Any presentation or videotape program - with approval - can be changed to DVD format. Guides for videotape duplication also apply to DVD duplication.

Editing Services:
We use Apple digital editing systems to perform advance video or DVD editing, or to create digital formats for use in multimedia presentations.
