*Guitar students at San Antonio College will be classified according to the following:

Class Guitar
Guitar I (MUSI 1192) :
1. Little or no experience reading standard musical notation.
2. Little or no training in classical guitar technique.
(Do you know what a "rest stroke" is? When is a "free stroke" used?)
3. Can you read/play exercises in the textbook (Introduction to Classical Guitar - SAC Bookstore) to page 47?

Guitar II (MUSI 1193) :
1. Ability to read musical notation in the first position (Introduction to Classical Guitar (to p.47).
2. Basic knowledge of chords (7 primary chords in keys of C and G)
3. A good foundation in classical technique for right and left hand.

Private Guitar
Students wanting to study in Private Lessons must audition in person and be approved by the instructor.
