Faculty Information

Stephanie Teply Westney, Instructor of Viola, holds a DMA from the University of Texas at Austin, a MM from Yale University, and a BM from Vanderbilt University. Dr. Westney is an active performer, coach, and teacher, and especially enjoys performing solo recitals, chamber music, and new music on both the viola and the violin. As a violinist, she is currently a tenured member of the San Antonio Symphony and the Sunriver Music Festival, and has also performed with San Antonio Opera, Austin Lyric Opera, Mid-Texas Symphony, Waco Symphony, Austin Symphony Orchestra, Huntsville Symphony Orchestra, and the Victoria Bach Festival Orchestra. In addition to teaching viola at San Antonio College, Dr. Westney is also Lecturer of Violin at the University of Texas at San Antonio and maintains a private studio of young Suzuki violin students. Dr. Teply additionally held the position of Visiting Assistant Professor of Violin and Viola at
Texas Lutheran Music Academy for 2007-2008.
