I. Music for Majors:

San Antonio College offers an Associate of Arts Degree in Music. The degree program follows the Field of Study in Music plan as articulated by the Texas Association of Music Schools. As a result, it is guaranteed to transfer to any public four-year institution in the state. Students take Music Theory, Aural Skills, Functional Keyboard, lessons, and ensemble for four consecutive semesters. Two semesters of Music Literature is also included in the plan, as is a recital attendance and performance workshop requirement. The SAC academic core curriculum has been scaled down to fit the plan, and it consists of nine semester hours of English courses, three semester hours of Math, six semester hours each of Government and History, three to four semester hours of natural science, and one semester hour of Physical Education. Auditions are required for placement in music lessons, and for scholarship consideration.

The Music Department offers many opportunities for non-majors. They may take lessons and participate in ensembles, and they are eligible for scholarships.
