Advanced Placement: Transfer Students

All requests for academic (non-nursing) course transfers are handled by the San Antonio College Department of Admissions and Registration.  Only nursing courses are evaluated in the nursing department.
An applicant seeking recognition of earned nursing credits from another NLNAC and/or AACN accredited college must meet all general requirements for admission  and be selected for admission by the Admissions and Standards Committee.
In addition, the applicant must submit:
  • A transcript documenting the course grades for which nursing credit is sought and verification of accreditation of the program.  Only those courses less than five years old will be considered viable.
  • Course syllabus containing course outline(s) and course objectives.  A course description is not sufficient for the evaluation of earned nursing credits.
  • A letter of recommendation from the Dean / Director of the nursing program previously attended.
At scheduled periods, the Admissions and Standards Committee will review all materials to determine which, if any, credits will be considered transferable. Transferability is considered in terms of similarity in course content, course grades, course credits, and course sequence.
Transfer credit will be granted only for nursing courses taken at schools of nursing that have NLNAC or AACN accreditation.
Qualified transfer students are admitted on a space available basis.
