Internet Skills Center Schedule

If you are enrolled in an online course or blended course, you are required to take modules 1 & 2 before the semester begins.
- Module 1) READI Self-assessment - required for students taking Online & Blended Courses
READI Self-assessment helps you to determine if SAC Online Courses are appropriate for you.
NOTE:
If you have already taken READI, submit your results to each Online and/or Blended Course instructor that you are enrolled with when the semester begins.
- Module 2) Orientation to Blackboard & PALS (Personalized Access to Learning and Services) - required for students taking Online & Blended Courses
Module 2 teaches students:
- strategies to succeed in online courses;
- how to login to college portal, PALS and to access online courses & student services;
- how to access Blackboard Vista - how to access course syllabus, chat-discussion board, lectures, email, and how to access technical support.
Other modules offered to students:
(These are not required, but are available at no cost to SAC Online students).
- Module 3) Web-based Research Skills
This module will help SAC Online students enhance their web-based research skills.
- Module 4) Basic Computer Skills
Our module will help SAC Online students understand basic computer operations.
- Module 5) Basic Podcasting Tutorial
Our module will help SAC Online students understand basic Podcasting operations.
Coming Summer 2009
- Module 6) Orientation to Second Life (SL)
This module will teach students how to create an Avatar (character in SL) and how to access SL.
- Module 7) Introduction to YouTube
An orientation on how to create video clips and upload them on YouTube as part of a SAC Online course project.
- Module 8) Orientation to Twitter
Students learn what Twitter means and how to twitter online.
Participate in your social network - Facebook, MySpace, YouTube, Twitter, and Second Life. Learn the basics at no cost to you. Stop by the Internet Skills Center, Moody Learning Center 400B.
- Modules are free to SAC Online students.
- A SAC student ID is all that is required to take a Module.
- The Modules may be taken in any order.
- A student may call (210) 486-0162 to enroll, or attend as part of a class with an instructor who schedules a session with the ISC.
- SAC instructors are also encouraged to call (210) 486-0162 to schedule a time to bring their classes.
