Proctoring Information / Guide for SAC Online Students.

  1. If you live outside a 50-mile radius of San Antonio College you may have your exams proctored.
  2. It is the student's responsibility to contact an accredited college/university in his/her area for that person to act as proctor. This first contact should be done before registering for the course.
  3. Before the course begins, approach your professor and ask when it would be a convenient time to discuss test proctoring. Make an appointment with your professor(s) via e-mail or speak by phone during his/her office hours. Send, via e-mail, the Proctor Approval / Agreement Form when you are speaking with your professor. Explain that you are a student who cannot attend on campus testing because you live outside the 50 mile radius from the city of San Antonio and that you will be using test proctoring. Give your professor(s) an opportunity to ask questions about the proctoring process so he/she have a clear understanding of what is expected of them.
  4. Download Proctor Approval / Agreement Form from your professor’s website or from the SAC Online site. If using SAC Online Website, go to: www.accd.edu/sac/online and click on Student Services and once in the page click on the link Proctoring Sites for Online Testing in which you will find the forms.
  5. Only one test per course will be sent to proctor at a time. You will need to contact proctor to make an appointment to take another test. Fill out a separate Proctor Approval / Agreement Form for each test you will be taking.
  6. All Form(s) must be COMPLETE and ACCURATE. If we do not receive a form or if the form is incomplete, the professor will not approve the test proctoring request. It is the student’s responsibility to make sure the Proctor Approval / Agreement Form is completely filled out.
  7. Have your professor complete and sign the Proctor Approval / Agreement Form.
  8. Be sure your professor turns in the form in order to accommodate your testing date properly. This information is crucial.
  9. An examination proctor is a responsible individual who is NOT a relative, close friend, coach, or employer of the student.
  10. Proctors are required to use an institution e-mail address.
  11. Proctors must have a computer with Internet access and be able to understand instructions written in English.
  12. Suggested contacts for proctors: college/university testing center, college/university distance learning office, school superintendent, principal, counselor, librarian, education officer, hospital educator, and public school teacher.
  13. NO form, NO testing! Make sure you SCHEDULE YOUR TEST IN ADVANCE.
  14. Students with Disabilities: To determine whether you require specialized accommodations, see the Office of Disability Services at the college or university where you are requesting to be proctored. If you are unsure of how to discuss your disability or how much information to disclose, you may want to call the Office of Disability Services at the proctoring site. Also, schedule an appointment and discuss your situation with a counselor at the proctoring site.
  15. If you do not show up for your test appointment or unduly late, the test will be returned to the professor to San Antonio College with a note attached advising him/her that you are a "No Show”. NO Make-up appointment test will be allowed and this will affect your grade(s).
  16. A college or university proctoring the student has the right to terminate or restrict all proctoring services to students who are consideredNo Shows”. Please follow proctor’s testing guidelines rules and regulations.
  17. When going to the proctoring site, please consider leaving all items not needed for your test at home or elsewhere. DO NOT bring personal materials (including, but not limited to supplies, books, bags, cell phones, pagers, PDAs, iPods, etc.) which are not authorized to be used during testing. These items will likely be placed in a locker or room until testing is completed. Remember, the proctoring site will not be responsible for any lost items. Personal electronic devices are not allowed.
  18. Before the test is administered, students will be reminded to take care of personal needs prior to checking in (food, drink, restroom, etc.). Breaks are not allowed during testing.
  19. Students are advised to follow all rules and regulations at the proctoring site.
  20. Some proctoring sites will ask for testing fees and you must be ready to pay. Ask for the amount you will be paying and ask when you must pay for your testing. Some sites will ask for a fee a couple of days before your test or on the same day you will be tested. Please pay close attention to avoid any inconvenience you may encounter if you fail to pay a fee.
  21. After you have taken the test, the results will be sent to the instructor. Communicate with your instructor after you have been proctored to make him/her aware that you have completed the test and the professor will contact the proctoring site.
