Thanks for your interest in VCT. Participation in VCT offers
the following benefits to you:
- Highly motivated distance education students
generally enroll in VCT classes. These students need your class
to graduate or are making a special effort to get the content
your class offers.
- Your class can "make" with smaller
SAC enrollment because VCT students from all over Texas fill slots
and generate revenue for the college.
- Your class gets statewide publicity as an example
of excellence in distance education.
If you would like to list your course, please take the following
steps:
- Discuss the matter with your department chairperson.
He or she may wish to block slots in the ACCD reservation system
in order to ensure that your class does not become overloaded.
- Determine how many slots you wish to reserve.
Most instructors request 3-5, but the popularity and retention
rate of your class will influence your decision.
- Fill out the SAC VCT Information Form. You will
need to provide all information because the reservation system
will not accept incomplete listings. You may either save the form
electronically and e-mail it to the VCT Coordinator as an attachment,
or you may print the form, fill it out manually, and send it by
PONY to the Coordinator at the following address:
Nicolas Silva
Evening, Weekend & Distance Education Office, Fletcher Administration
Center - Room 230
San Antonio College
You will be notified by e-mail message as soon as
your course is listed.
Once the course is in the system, the coordinator
will take any requests for reservations from host colleges. She
will then notify you by e-mail if your course receives any VCT students.
The deadline for VCT registration is the same date as the ACCD general
registration deadline each semester.
The VCT coordinator will ensure that you receive
student information, census rosters, and grade rosters for your
VCT students. Each host college creates a "dummy course"
in its records system and registers its VCT students; therefore,
these students will not show up on your SAC rosters.
You will also be able to arrange on-campus testing
for your VCT students at their host colleges. Each college is required
to provide a secure, proctored testing center for use by VCT provider
college instructors. The VCT coordinator will provide you with information
about the testing centers, and then you can arrange to send your
testing materials and instructions to the host college.
