SAC is serving as a provider college for VCT.
This means that we can serve students from other Texas community
colleges in our Internet classes and telecourses. The coordinator
can list any of our distance education classes (with your approval
for both classes and number of slots) in the VCT online reservation
system. VCT coordinators at host colleges (those schools with students
who need our classes) can then access the system and reserve slots
in our courses.
The host college creates a "dummy class"
in which they enroll their students. We provide the actual instruction.
The host college gets credit for the enrollment, but they pay a
per-student lease fee to SAC in the amount of the state contact
hour reimbursement rate (rounded down to the nearest tenth). The
VCT coordinator takes care of all the paperwork that goes out to
faculty (rolls, grade rosters) and coordinates communication with
administrators at the host college. SAC faculty members teach the
course as usual. If on-campus testing is needed, each college has
a secure testing center that handles all the logistical arrangements
in cooperation with the instructor and the VCT coordinator.
