Catalog Description: This course provides instruction in the rules and strategies for singles and doubles. |

Instruction will consist of: Reading assignments in assigned text, lectures relating to the execution of the three fundamental strokes in racquetball (forehand, backhand, overhead), and the three basic serves (Drive, Z-serve, Lob). Safety issues during play are stressed as well as court position and basic strategy. |

Course Content: Introduction to forehand and backhand grips Introduction to proper footwork for forehand and backhand Drills for forehand and backhand execution with individual guidance by instructor Introduction to overhead shots and proper footwork for the overheads Drill for overhead shots with individual guidance by instructor Introduction to the drive, Z-serve, and lob serves and
proper footwork for the serves Lecture for the basic rules of the game and proper court
positioning and safety Intra-class play with the instructor present in the court to clarify rules, court position, safety, shot selection, and execution of shots |

Course requirements and grade computation. |

A. |
College Requirements: A written, comprehensive final examination, not to exceed three hours in length, shall be given at the end of each semester for each course at the regular scheduled time. Any exceptions to these requirements must be approved by the appropriate dean. Other examinations are given at the discretion of the instructor. A student who must be absent from the final examination should petition that instructor for permission to postpone the examination. A student absent without permission from a final examination is graded “F.” Postponed examinations result in a grade of “I.” The final exam must be taken within 120 calendar days from the end of the semester or the grade automatically becomes an “F.” (San Antonio College Bulletin, Faculty Handbook – January 1995) |
