Unit
(1) To help students discover the vital issues of philosophy and the philosophical dimensions of their own lives;
(2) To help our students meet their educational objectives by providing courses that transfer to major area senior institutions;
(3) To enable our students to understand systems of ethical thought and how they may be applied to actual ethical problems;
(4) To teach our students critical thinking and logical reasoning skills;
(5) To impart to our students an understanding and appreciation of the fundamental philosophical and religious views of multiple cultures.
(6) To broaden our students' knowledge of social and political philosophy, the philosophy of religion, the history of philosophy and of world religions.
The Department faculty are committed to the constant improvement of its curriculum and the quality of its instruction. It remains committed to the aims of higher education in general and to the specific and practical value of education in philosophy for every person.
