2005 Black History Month Activities at San Antonio College

San Antonio College celebrates African-American heritage with activities scheduled throughout the month. Events are free and open to the public, except where noted.

5th Annual Black History Month Essay Contest (open to SAC students)
Entries due Friday, Feb. 18, 4 p.m.
Awards include one $400, two $350 and three $300 scholarships , which come thanks to the generosity of Tomas Campos and SAC Student Financial Aid.
Winners to be announced at the Feb. 22 African-American Read-In.

Pulitzer Prize-winning Author James M. McPherson, Princeton University 1:30 p.m., VATC Room 120 McPherson has written fourteen books, mostly focusing on the American Civil War and Reconstruction, including ³Battle Cry of Freedom: The Civil War Era,² which won a Pulitzer Prize in 1989, and ³For Cause and Comrades,² which won the Lincoln Prize in 1998.
He is the Immediate Past President of the American Historical Association.
