Rockey added that Lewis, who is new to the division, will broaden the center's scope to include the college's safety training to meet the specialized needs of San Antonio's industries and service agencies. Courses will also be adapted to meet the special safety needs of Spanish-speaking workers.
Lewis has a master's degree from The George Washington University and has developed and implemented occupational training programs for major international technology companies, including Bell Helicopter International, Lockheed Corporation, and Raytheon. He specializes in training people of diverse cultural backgrounds and has worked extensively in Asia and Latin America.
Before coming to San Antonio College, Lewis operated his own training materials development company, based in Monterrey, Mexico, from 1993-1999, and has since developed courses for the Texas Engineering Extension Service and the private sector.
