Clark is Approved as Executive VP for SAC

At their meeting on May 16, the Alamo Community College District (ACCD) Board of Trustees approved the appointment of Dr. Kristine Ford Clark as Executive Vice President for San Antonio College, effective July 15.  Dr. Clark is currently Dean of Students at Albuquerque TVI Community College, a multi-campus institution of 25,000 students.

After a committee search process and college forums with finalists, President Robert E. Zeigler recommended Dr. Clark to the ACCD Board for approval.  She will assume the position held for the past four years by Dr. Thomas Hoy, who will retire in July.

"Dr. Clark is extremely well qualified for this position," said Dr. Zeigler.  He added, "She has both faculty and administrative experience at the community college and university levels, most recently overseeing student life at a large, multi-campus community college with a large student body.  We are fortunate to have someone with her expertise and experience to join our team."

Dr. Clark said, "During recent months, I have come to appreciate San Antonio College as a learning environment which embraces its rich history and tradition while also focusing on the need to provide a progressive, cutting-edge approach to the student educational experience.  The people on campus I have had the opportunity to interact with have demonstrated extensive knowledge and expertise in their respective fields and a genuine concern for students."

She added, "I believe that I bring to the college a similar focus on student success and professional excellence.  My diverse educational and experiential background is well-suited for the challenges inherent in the position of Executive Vice President and I am excited to become a part of the San Antonio College community."

Dr. Clark earned her Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts degrees from Eastern New Mexico University and her Doctor of Education degree from the University of New Mexico.

Prior to her current position as Dean of Students, she also served at Albuquerque TVI Community College as Associate and Interim Academic Dean of the Department of Adult and Developmental Education, and Instructor for Communication Skills and Developmental Studies.  She also served as Director of Cooperative Education and Assistant Director of Career Services at the University of New Mexico, and at Eastern New Mexico University as Field Office Director, Associate Director of Admissions, Director of Developmental Studies and Learning Resources, and Tutor Coordinator.

Dr. Clark has numerous publications and memberships in professional organizations.  Some of her many honors include Woman of the Year Award by Beta Sigma Phi Chi Chapter, Outstanding Young Women in America, the Pi Kappa Delta Distinguished Service Award and Highest Distinction Award, several speech awards, and Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities.
