Three students in San Antonio College's Dental Assisting Program took top awards in the Texas SkillsUSA competition - Dental Assisting Division, which was hosted by San Antonio College on March 24.
Kimberly Villanueva took First Place in the Technical Test competition and Third Place in the Technical Skills competition. Cari Jones took First Place in Technical Skills and Second Place in Technical Test. Irma Meza took Second Place in Technical Skills.
"This is the second year that a SAC Dental Assisting student has placed first in state," said Stella Lovato, Program Coordinator for Dental Assisting. She added that Jones will go on to Kansas, Mo. to compete in the nationals. Last year Dental Assisting student Patricia Arauza placed second in national competition.
