San Antonio College is offering a Math Boot Camp for SAC students interested in improving their math placement score, at a cost of $59 per session.

They can choose to enroll in one of three one-week sessions: July 17-21, July 24-28, or July 31 - August 4. Classes are offered in the mornings, 9 a.m. - 12 Noon, or afternoons, 1 - 4 p.m. Two hours per day of classroom instruction are required, with one hour a day optional tutoring and testing.

Students may focus on either the Math 0300 / 0301 combo or the Math 0302 / 0303 combo, with the opportunity to "test out" and place up to two courses above the initial placement, but no higher than Math 1314.

"This is a self-paced, individualized learning environment," said Tim Rockey, Dean of Continuing Education. He added that each class has one math instructor and one math tutor to answer questions. Students can take chapter tests as the final exam when the instructor agrees they are ready. Advancement to the next math level is based on the final exam score and the instructor's recommendation.
