WHAT:
* A Graduation Ceremony will be held for 248 parents enrolled in the Parent Academy, a partnership between San Antonio College and the North East Independent School District (NEISD).
* The Parent Academy is designed to promote parents' involvement with their children's education at the elementary school level.
* San Antonio College will award a Certificate of Completion and Continuing Education Units (CEUs) to parents completing at least 80 percent of the academy's 10 two-hour sessions, offered October - April.
* NEISD teachers, administrators, and counselors teach academy sessions at different elementary school locations on subjects that include Pre-Kinder/Kinder Activities, Pre-Reading Activities, Reading Fundamentals, Mathematics Made Easy, and Basics of Composition Writing, among others. The last session taught at San Antonio College focuses on higher education opportunities for both parents and their children.
