DETAILS:
Conference provides information on overcoming fears and how to gain confidence to reach personal and educational goals. Topics covered include: GED preparation and testing, college enrollment, financial aid, one year certificate and two year degree programs, and home buyer programs. (A workshop in Spanish is included.) Also, scholarships to attend SAC for Fall 2006 will be awarded.
The outreach event is designed to meet the special needs of low-income women wanting to return to school. In fact, of the 170 women who attended last year’s conference, more than one-third of them enrolled in the colleges of the ACCD (most enrolling at SAC). Many other attendees benefited by enrolling in various programs and services offered through the SAC Women’s Center and Seguir Adelante Community Initiative, including college and GED preparation, and basic skills upgrading.
